About the
company |
J&J Trading and Distributing company was started in the early 1980's as a retail nursery in the northwest corner of Wayne county Ohio. It stayed this way for about five years, until James Matty Sr. Decided to incorporate tree service into his company. After a few years of this he then broke into landscaping strictly on a design build basis. The nursery and landscape end of the company grew by leaps and bounds and by the early 1990's the tree service end had all but disappeared to due to demographics, labor shortages, and the increasing demand for professionally designed and installed landscapes. James Matty Sr. Then made a very difficult decision of handing down the company to James Matty II. After I took over J&J Trading and Distributing Co. in 1996 I began to realize that the company needed two more things that would help us explode all over northeast Ohio. The first thing that we needed was to open a new company branch closer to Akron which would increase the our population density pool by simple demographics. The second thing that J&J Trading needed was the expansion of services outside of the nursery and design build end. Since this realization I moved part of the company to the northeast part of Wayne county in Doylestown Ohio. Shortly after moving it was decided that the best way to expand would be in the landscape maintenance services for the demand of the new demographics. |

We also need to set priorities within the company that make us more efficient in all service areas. This will allow a smoother flow for the tree service and all other future service expansions in the company. We need to identify and actively seek clients who value our level of commitment We need to design all of our systems to meet the needs of our clients so that they may operate at their highest efficiency We need to improve the quality of our clients landscape asset over time This company will continue to grow internally for all so long as we stay focused on common goals. This means that as service areas come in we are able to open new jobs for external world of this company but most important it allows both lateral changes and promotional moves for all those internally. These internal company movements do more than just give people more money and allow for a change of pace. They also educate our employees and make their lives better over all by showing them trust and delegating more responsibility to them directly. |
